  1. What I do not get from the NYC Ferry App or from your clip is, if I must pay 4$ twice starting from N. Williamsburg with the ER Ferry and change to Astoria line on E. 34 St. for my final destination on Roosevelt Island (to take the tramway to Manhattan). Or is changing ferry lines within a specific period included?

  2. GREAT tip with this NYC ferry! What’s $4?!?! You can’t get hardly anything for $4 anymore. I’m going to have to send some $ on your link because I know I’m not the only one you have made NYC less intimidating for. So THANK YOU!!! I feel so much more confident bringing my son to NYC for his 16th birthday gift just from YOUR videos.

  3. Can you take this boat from anywhere in New Jersey or what's the best way to get these boats if you come from NJ (Exchange Place?) And where is the stop in NYC you got on the ferry?

  4. Thank you so much as I just took the New York Ferry yesterday on September 11th to Battery Park. Nice weather I was able to sit on top. Was so easy after watching your video. I hadn’t been there for a long time. 🌁 🛥️ 🗽🇺🇸Can’t wait to go back so I can take the ferry to another area from Midtown. 🚤

  5. A million thanks for this video. Just went to NYC for the first time in years and taking this ferry (the Astoria from 11th Street to 90th Street) was one of the highlights of the trip. Really enjoyable and a great bargain. Fantastic views of the skylines, not crowded, and comfortable. Highly recommended.

  6. Hi John, I followed your proposal and it’s such a great idea thanks a lot, we are a group of 12 people and it was the best, follow to the dot only we took the east river route and got off at 34 th thanks a lot for all your vids !

  7. I used your channel to plan our once in a lifetime trip to NYC and this ferry tip was the best one I learned.
And we had such a great time we're already planning our return trip

  8. Thank you for Throgs Neck route, it looks amazing!
Should we get off the boat first and then get back on again for our return trip in the last stop? Or can we just sit and wait till the time comes?
I think return trip is doable with only 1 ticket anyway. Looks like no need for another ticket check?

  9. Thank you for a great video.. the Robert f Kennedy bridge used to be called the Triboro bridge back when I was a kid. There are five bridges going up the Harlem river to the Hudson. One more bridge going northeast the City Island Causeway and the Marine parkway bridge from Brooklyn to Rockaway and the Cross Bay Bridge connects the peninsula to the rest of Queens. My family had a boat way back when I was a kid and went every where. These are are city bridge keeping the city connected

  10. That Rockaway ferry is definitely useful for those who'd rather not take a ride on the A! Not a secret but a favorite of mine when it comes to ferries is the Staten Island Ferry, which is of course free and an absolute steal. The reason the ferry is free is because the fee for it was eliminated in 1997 by former Mayor Giuliani as part of the "One city, one fare" system the MTA started that year. So Staten Islanders wouldn't be paying extra when they transfer to the subway at South Ferry. Another free ferry is NY Waterway's IKEA ferry which goes between Midtown and IKEA in Red Hook with a stop at Wall Street in between. It's great that Brooklyn has its own IKEA for those who don't want to or can't go to either Nassau County or New Jersey for IKEA. Even better that the ferry exists so you can chillax and stop for some meatballs.

That bridge you went under at 2:41 is the Marine Parkway–Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge which opened in July 1937. It's a vertical-lift bridge, meaning the bridge can be lifted in case a vessel wants to pass beneath. The bridge's center span can be raised to a height of 150 feet or 46 meters to do so. It was built by the American Bridge Company (who also helped build the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, Chrysler Building, and Empire State Building) cost 10 million dollars to build, or over 200 million dollars in 2024 dollars!
