  1. I was in NYC last Sept but I am again heading to NYC in April. I am staying in Hells Kitchen area – West 48th street. What is the best way to get to Brooklyn, (Dumbo Area) in your opinion. If it is the subway, can you tell me please how to figure it out? Thank you!

  2. New Yorkers don’t bother teaching people this. Non-natives have to step in.
In the era of Google Maps being connected to the MTA; I still can’t comprehend why people still ask me for directions.
“How do I get to Astoria from here?”
Easy. One of two apps. Google Maps or uber. Then eventually my assholeness fades “N to queens. Get off whatever stop is closest to your destination. Bye”

  3. Was supposed to go uptown from Chinatown to Times Square. Hopped on the last Manhattan stop of some line I can't remember and took a lovely 20 minute ride to Brooklyn and then had to figure out my way back. Fellow travelers, beware! 😂

  4. Omny NYC MTA is a scam. They claim to be free after 12 taps… that's a lie. They will overcharge you. They will not return complaint calls. They have constant interruptive "system upgrades" to scam more riders and their credit card info. They should be class-action sued out of business. Bring back unlimited weekly/monthly! Immediately!

  5. going to nyc tomorrow and this looks so much more confusing than toronto's

Update: subway was actually very easy to use, the signage was much more intuitive than Toronto’s and I loved that there were multiple subways I could take to get to my destination. Google Maps gave really good instructions on which platform or subway to take and the uptown and downtown was not confusing at all. I liked how the subways had screens that show the line and the stops while Toronto’s technology is outdated and very hard to look at. Only issue was that exits are kinda far and it’s super hot and humid down there. I wish fares weren’t so expensive since Toronto has a system where you could go anywhere as long as it’s in the 2 hour period.

  6. Today, I took the wrong entrance. The sub I was supposed to take was on the other sude.

To fix this, you just need to go in that direction until you get a interchange station, where you can cross over without paying again.

    Best

  7. I never had to come out of the subway and pay again if i entered the wrong platform. Just walk towards the end where they have the booth/stairs to get to the other side… unless there are specific stations that doent have that 🤔🤔🤔🤔
