I will absolutely travel for food and love trying new places! Very excited to have tried some of these places for the first time and also returned to some of my favorite bites here in SD!
My recommendations:
Cesarina, for amazing quality pasta
Desserts by Clement, aesthetic and tasty (pricey)
Harumama, solid ramen and cute dessert
Selva, botanical coffee shop with decent matcha
Asa Bakery, for Asian inspired pastries
Tacos El Gordo, famous TJ style tacos
Bobboi, authentic gelato
Rikka Fikka, best matcha I’ve had in SD!

Tacos El Gordo is soo mid to me. Might ruffle some feathers but they are 100 places better than that in LA.. San Diego Mexican food is mid to me.
Where are you in that last shot where you’re on a trail with purple flowers and the bridge? It’s so beautiful and I be lived here in north county for 20 years and have no clue.
These are all hype places. A quick goggle search and you'll find these places lol. There's way better spots.

Tacos el gordo has been over rated for years. The quality diminished slightly while they raised their prices at the same time. I wonder how much they paid to be advertised here. There are alot of new taco shops in sd county that have better prices and quality than tacos el gordo. Most of these posts on restaurants recommended by influencers are glorified paid advertisements.

Noooooo don’t go to that pork bun place!! Maybe I just went on an off day but the buns were just like ones you would get frozen and microwave cook!
