  1. If you’re looking for things to do in Seattle that are non-commercial and anti-corporate—focused on community, nature, and grassroots culture—here are ten solid options:

    1. Explore the Duwamish River & Visit the Duwamish Longhouse

Support Seattle’s first people, the Duwamish Tribe, whose land the city occupies. The longhouse is a cultural and community hub where you can learn about indigenous history, resistance, and ongoing struggles for federal recognition.

    2. Hike in Discovery Park

Seattle’s largest green space offers miles of trails, old-growth forests, and stunning Puget Sound views. Unlike corporate-controlled spaces, this land still retains some of its natural beauty and history, including the remnants of the Fort Lawton military base.

    3. Attend a DIY or House Show

Skip the corporate music venues and seek out Seattle’s underground music scene. Check out spaces like Black Lodge, Hollow Earth Radio, and local punk houses where grassroots artists perform without corporate backing.

    4. Volunteer at Food Not Bombs

Help distribute free meals to the unhoused while rejecting the capitalist notion that food should be a commodity. Seattle’s Food Not Bombs chapter regularly organizes mutual aid efforts in protest of economic injustice.

    5. Browse the Left Bank Books Collective

A radical bookstore near Pike Place Market (but far from the tourist traps), Left Bank Books has been worker-owned since 1973, offering anarchist literature, local zines, and anti-corporate reads.

    6. Join a Free Skillshare or Community Workshop

Seattle has a strong DIY ethos, and many community spaces host free or donation-based skillshares on everything from urban gardening to bike repair. Keep an eye on events at The Vera Project, Black Coffee Co-op (when active), and community centers.

    7. Explore the Ghosts of Seattle’s Past

Take an informal tour of places that have been erased by gentrification and corporate expansion. From the lost neighborhoods of the Central District to the buried remains of Denny Hill, learn the real history beyond what the tech sector wants you to see.

    8. Forage for Food in the City

Seattle’s climate makes it great for urban foraging. Pick blackberries, mushrooms, and edible greens in city parks or take part in a community harvest with organizations like the Beacon Food Forest.

    9. Join a Protest or Direct Action

Seattle has a long history of activism, from the WTO protests of 1999 to ongoing movements against police brutality and environmental destruction. Plug into direct action through groups like Real Change, the Seattle Solidarity Network, or anti-corporate labor movements.

    10. Kayak or Paddleboard on Lake Washington—Without Paying a Corporation

Rather than renting from a company, borrow a canoe from the Center for Wooden Boats on South Lake Union (free on Sundays) or check out community lending networks. It’s a way to enjoy the city’s waterways without feeding corporate recreation. ❤

  2. Driving 25 miles out to Everett to see the Boeing Future of Flight Factory Tour is so worth it! The place is mind bogglingly HUGE, and you get to see them build the 747, 767, 777, and the 787 airplanes. Tickets are $38 for adults; $33 for seniors. Open Thursday- Mondays from 8:30 am- 5:30 pm, closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

  3. Who hates gum??? Man! Abusive parents, or something? But…thanks for the Seattle tips. Gonna be visiting for the first time this August as we start our trip to explore Vancouver and the Canadian Rockies, too. Gonna start in Seattle…at the Gum Wall, for sure!

  4. Might I also suggest a ferry to Bainbridge Island. It's a 35 minute trip (you pay one fare, the return is included) with magnificent views of Seattle and the skyline. Also on the island is the Bloedel Estate. It's a lovely park-like setting with amazing flowers and trees. The walk around the gardens is about two hours of peace, quiet and beautiful flowers, shrubs and a moss garden. Lovely, and very much worth a visit.

  5. Awesome video guys and you two are so infectous, made me so much more excited for planning my trip there next year as wasnt sure weather to go Seattle as well or just do San Fran. This is the best video ive found on Seattle so far and has convinced me I MUST visit, good work guys!

  6. The man reminds me of one of the news casters of: komo, king5 and kiro station on tv. In Silverdale wa we have REI store is two right is Home depot and left across the street is the Kitsap mall.

  7. Thank you for your tips.
