San Francisco: The GOOD, The BAD, The UGLY (California Documentary)

San Francisco, California — a city so beautiful it’s hard to believe it’s real. Yet at the same time, it is gritty and dystopian, its underbelly fully exposed for the world to see. In this travel documentary, explore the nature and geography of this 7×7 peninsula, take a closer look at the quirky, colorful Victorian architecture and the history behind it, visit one of the most iconic Victorians in town (that looks like the Addam’s Family mansion), and walk through the Tenderloin, a complex neighborhood that is ground zero of San Francisco’s homeless and drug crisis and home to the city’s Southeast Asian immigrants.

  1. Thank you for this, i have never been there but my mom use to love coming there when she was sent there to work for a couple of weeks at a time, that was back in the 80's and early 90's. She even took my sister in the late 90's a couple of times since they both loved San Fran SO much. I don't believe mom knew about the Ugly/Bad areas, she mainly talked about the Golden Gate Bridge and the prison and the steep streets. I lost mom and my sister a few years ago so they are missed but documentaries like this give me a smile and a tear thinking of both of them. Have a great life out there!

  2. Yes, America, our country is a special place on earth. And San Francisco is one of those places. Been here twice in the "good old days" and there were "no homeless" people here or in any States. Sad to see what happens to Americans chaos all most 4 years. Praying that American will not fall into a hands of "a person incompetent & no leadership skill." Beautiful Doc video .Thank you. God bless American 🙏

  3. One of the biggest problems of SF is the mentality of its people. And I say that as a citizen of the Bay, having lived here for over two decades. People (generally long-time residents) here think they are open minded, but they are not. They think they are progressive because they support those movements, but when it comes to truly hearing the other side, they do not. If your beliefs whether they be political or personal fall within the general spectrum of "liberal" ideas you'll be fine. But once you try to discuss ideas outside what is the "norm" for this area it gets a bit hairy.

The only times I've personally found people to be open minded are the instances when I interact with transplants – either from out of state, or from a diff country.

  4. I just visited S.F. for the first time but for 3 days only. I stayed in the mission district and walked through the Tenderloin everyday. I never felt threatened but definitely because of the high density of drug addiction and mental health issues you have to be on your toes. I loved the Waymo! The driverless Jaguars plying the streets of S.F. If you are going, get the app and take the Waymo, it's a blast and cheaper than Uber. S.F. is heaven for foodies, endless great eats. The big caveat are the taxes, waaaaay off the charts, even for a Canadian, I never imagined taxes in California would be higher than Canada but they are. And that says a lot! Great city, 3 days not nearly long enough.

  5. NO MATTER THE SAD SIDE OF SF I WILL ALWAYS LOVE IT. I WISH PEOPLE WHOULD LEARN TO LOVE AND TAKE CARE OF SUCH A BEAUTIFUL CITY, SF DESERVE IT. PLEASE MAKE SF GREAT AGAIN👍👍I WAS RAISED IN SF SINCE I WAS A 1YEAR OLD AND I HURTS ME TO SEE WHAT IS GOING ON THERE. 😢😢

  6. Complete BS from someone who doesn't know San Francisco. Calling it 'gritty and dystopian' is laughable and ridiculous, but it will unfortunately influence those that think whatever they see on social media or You Tube is true.

  7. This video was a really good one. It’s shows different size of San Francisco. I’ll give it 10- 😉 come to visit in Scandinavia someday Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark.
