Here are My Top 10 Best Food in San Diego:
Best Butcher Shop (Wise Ox) – Along with the burgers we also had a Philly cheesesteak and bologna sandwich that were out of this world!
9⃣ Freshest Seafood (Dockside Fish) – Over on the main channel, I spent a day in the life of Chef Tara Monsod – the only James Beard Finalist in San Diego history. The first place she took me was down to the Tuna Harbor Dockside Market for fresh seafood from her friends at Dockside Fish.
8⃣ Best Vegan (The Plot) – A video nobody watched! The Plot in Oceanside is doing the absolute most with their urban garden and Chef Travis is taking such a creative take on plant-based cuisine that tastes really good.
7⃣ Best Hidden Gems Chinese Food (Minh Ky) – One of my favorite hidden gem food spots in San Diego is Minh Ky over in City Heights where my friend Cindy took me. Crispy Chicken, Combo Wonton Noodle soup with egg noodles. Satay beef is a bonus.
6⃣ Best Hidden Gems Chinese Food (Meet Dumpling) – Meet Dumpling in Point Loma is so good – you have ladies in the back making them fresh. Green onion pancake is amazing.
5⃣ Best Bakery (Izola) – Jeffery at Izola is so passionate and dedicated to his craft that this was a special experience – the bread, croissants and pastries are so good – I just wish the East Village would get its act together.
4⃣ Best Burger (Rosemarie’s) – The lineup of sliders Rosemarie’s has is elite!
3⃣ Best Sandwiches (MammaMia & Beyer’s Deli) – Mamma Mia has unique Italian sandwiches on fresh focaccia bread – pistachio spread, mortadella, fig jam. Beyer’s Deli amazing traditional sandwiches.
2⃣ Best Dining Experience (EE Nami) – All the things at EE Nami are great, especially chef Jumon’s Tonkatsu – learned from his father back in Osaka. Pickled veggies, smoked qual egg, wagyu tataki, Matcha tiramisu, maybe not the tofu – but that’s not me. Even the drinks are great. I have a very deep love for Japanese cuisine and dining experiences so I am completely biased here – but I love it.
1⃣ Best Tacos (Cabeza El Unico & Carnitas Las Michuacanas) – We’re in San Diego – #1 has to be tacos. And in the episode of with Chef Dafne and her dad, three out of the four places blew us away – Aqui es Texcoco, Carnitas Las Michuacanas, and Cabeza El Unico – and I have to give my favorite to the Cabeza Taco at Cabeza el Unico.

Hey Gareth! I live in North park and have been doing my own exploration on "Best Lobster rolls in San Diego" as I'm from the east coast. Let me know if you would like to discuss places or something man!!!
Please visit Rustico’s family owned Italian food in Murrieta. Delicious authentic and best owners! Try their lasagna, mac n cheese, pizza and you will love their bread and green onion oil dipping sauce!
Gareth we took shots together at Waterfront bar. Stand up guy.
So i guess nothing in north county
What did you mean by the east village needs to get its act together? I’m am visiting next month and want to check out Izola. Safe?
Love this list style! Do it more often!
Gareth! Me and my wife have been absolutely loving your channel. Particularly the Mexican food / taco spot videos. We’ve been to many of the ones you have ranked highly.
I grew up in a family that owned a few Mexican restaurants – I have a decent sense of what to look for.
We live in North County though – would you be open to reviewing a few places that we, and seems like North County love?
We have a list but the front runners that we’d put up against the SD best:
Eribertos – Oceanside
Los tacos – Carlsbad
Cotijas – rancho bernardo
It may be a long shot, but I have to ask 👊🇲🇽
Funny enough I live by the carnitas la michoacana. I'm always expected to bring it with me when I visit my family in Orange County.
Hype
Emailing have a band that’s FANTASTIC EXACTLY WHAT YOU Want.
Jesus came to this earth as a baby born in a manger he never sinned even though he was tempted in every way. At the age of 33 he went to the cross and died an extremely painful death for all our sins and paid the price we can never pay. God forgives us when we Repent and turn from sin and put our full faith and trust in Jesus to save us from our sins and to forgive us. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Jesus is the only way to Heaven and trusting in him is the best decision you will ever make.✝️💛🙏
MammaMia in La Mesa has a new pizza addition to their property called Gino & Gianni's Pizzeria. Slices and full pies. My favorite current in the county. Go get it!
Thank you Gareth, for putting in the leg work to find these! I've tried Rosemarie's, Mamma Mia, and Spicy City from your recommendations and each one was BOMB. I'll trust you like moses through the red sea from now on my guy.
Traveling from Eastern Canada!. Can't wait to try some of these restaurants in August. My boyfriend and I will be in San Diego and looking for things to do and places to eat while there. Your videos are super helpful. Thank you!!
Thanks for the heads up. Not into vegan or vegetarian.
Loved the Vegan food episode!

So happy de cabeza is getting the recognition they deserve!
bro Carnitas las michoacanas are best in SD! but you gotta go to the one in east daygo that's the original one!
Happy New Year 🎉
Love these videos 😊
Ran into you yesterday for the first time. It would be very useful if you mentioned the prices of the items you're showing.
✨✨big fan of you !! you should try campinis in temecula, ca. great sandwich spot 👏⭐️
was it you biking earlier today on penasquitos trail? lol
Always enjoy your food videos! We’ve actually tried a couple of the places you’ve featured! Looking forward to 2026 adventures with you! Stay well!

I think Wise Ox hooked you up as I just got the cheesesteak and it was tiny with barely any meat. Definitely disappointing
Gareth! Please try Girard Gourmet in LJ….their fresh baked grain bread is Le Bomb!!! Turkey bacon avocado sandwich amongst many more!!!
love your videos. thanks for more recommendations!
Carnitas las Michoacanas in Chula is not the original spot. The original is at 6513 university ave. The son opened the Chula location the lost it to someone else some reason. The original one is better and the owner is a really nice guy.
Amazing work man, what a year. I live in Oceanside awesome to see your recommendations
You said you never have been paid for a review and I believe you. Still curious, have you accepted free meals to highlight their menus since you obviously can’t eat everything served.
No harm, no foul. A great review is worth more than the cost of the meal. I haven’t watched long enough to know if you give bad reviews.
If you’re in the Los Angeles area you must try Dal Rae in Pico Rivera.
No Ed Fernandez birriaria!?!? How dare you. Best spot in San Diego hands down!
CHULA VISTA LES GOOOO
Whoa, this is my New Year’s resolutions right here—done!
Can confirm that The Plot is legit. I’m not even vegan, but have visited with friends that are and I haven’t been disappointed yet.
Chef Joann
Love it! Thank you for showing us all those gems. Looking forward to more in 2026! Wishing you a wonderful holiday and happy new year!
I really like all your videos and seen all the places you go around SD
No urchin for the celestials
