I'd say, through down on a lime scooter…from the Smithsonians to the linkon memorial, and linkon memorial to FDR/Thomas Jefferson.
Last time I was traveling I stopped in DC at night to visit the monuments and the difference seeing them then was like night and day. Get it???

So my dad cannot walk very far. If we did a hop on hop off bus tour … do they stop or drop you off pretty close to the monuments? I'm just curious if he can do this trip. Also do the buses run pretty often? I'm just thinking about when we are done with an area how long we will have to wait for the next bus and if there is a place for him to sit.
Also. Is there any kind of wheel chairs you can rent around the area ?
The food trucks are insanely expensive. The ones out by the Reagan Airport bike park (where the incoming planes fly right over you) seemed very overpriced.

I don’t understand the Circulator thing. Of course it was a budget drain being free…so maybe charge something even nominal as a fare to ride? The national mall is the perfect area to have a tram. The cars and buses could be restricted to the areas north and south of the mall and independence and constitution could be used for a (paid) tram.
As a national park space it is unique, so either the NPS should be more creative or contract with a developer to have some commercial space. There’s tons of room for more kiosks, even as large as the size of the sculpture garden cafe, or it could otherwise construct some area with more commercial space (under the mall or at the old FBI building site or a large market hall type building along a newly closed to vehicles, pedestrian-only Pennsylvania Ave are options). How much better/easier would it be with these types of things available?

I wouldn't have been able to get around the DC mall without the circulator bus. It's very sad to hear that it's going away. I have visited DC three times and have enjoyed it immensely. Bikes and scooters would be the next best option unless the weather is bad.

Interesting. I'm in the area, and never thought about walking across the Memorial Bridge. I didn't know it was pedestrian friendly. Also, I did know about walking to the Jefferson Memorial from the Foggy Bottom station. I'll have to put that on my list.
I totally want a very leisurely solo, educational trip to DC. Like, for two weeks. Both professional tours and just wandering around the museums, and maybe staying at a nice hotel at the Wharf area.
