Boston Travel Guide: Top Things To Do This Summer | My Boston Adventure
Boston in the summertime is pure magic, and in this video, I’m taking you along on my unforgettable visit while sharing the top things to do in Boston this summer. We start at the beautiful Boston Public Garden, a peaceful green oasis in the heart of the city. The Public Garden is the first public botanical garden in the U.S., whereas, Boston Common is the oldest public park in America. It’s impossible to visit without taking a ride on the iconic Swan Boats that have been gliding across the lagoon since 1877. Just steps away, you’ll find the charming Make Way for the Ducklings statue, inspired by the beloved children’s book — a must-see for families, photographers, and anyone who loves a bit of whimsy.
Beacon Hill is arguably Boston’s most beautiful neighborhood. Located north of Boston Common, Beacon Hill is awash with quaint, cobblestone-lined alleyways, corners dotted with gas street lamps, stately townhouses affixed with bay view windows and vibrant, flower-filled window boxes.
From there, we wander over to Beacon Hill, one of Boston’s most picturesque neighborhoods with its cobblestone streets and historic brownstones. Acorn Street is one of the most photographed streets in the United States, and walking through here feels like stepping back in time. Next, we head to the New England Aquarium, where marine life from around the globe awaits — from playful penguins to mesmerizing jellyfish.
No trip to Boston is complete without visiting Faneuil Hall Marketplace and Quincy Market. This area is alive with energy, street performers, and endless food options inside Quincy Market’s historic hall. As you walk through the central hallway, you’re surrounded by the mouthwatering aromas of cuisines from all over the world.
Cambridge, which sits about 3 miles northwest of Boston’s city center, is home to both Harvard University and MIT, but there’s more to see in Cambridge than just the schools themselves. The city features an impressive array of cultural institutions that feature collections and exhibitions ranging from fine art to technological innovations. We also venture across the Charles River to Harvard Square in Cambridge. Here, you’ll find quirky shops, cozy cafés, and the historic John Harvard Statue, where a popular superstition has visitors rubbing the statue’s shoe for good luck — though the tradition has its humorous side thanks to local student pranks.
The journey continues at the Museum of Science, where I learned so much about our planet, human innovation, and the wonders of technology. We then take a stroll down Newbury Street, known for its mix of high-end boutiques, unique shops, and restaurants perfect for an afternoon stop. Newbury Street is in the Back Bay and depending on which end you’d like to start at, there are a few options for public transportation.
Boston has so much to offer, and I can’t forget some honorable mentions that make the city unforgettable: hopping on a Duck Tour to see Boston from both land and water, savoring authentic Italian food in the North End, enjoying the vibrant waterfront at the Seaport District, taking a peaceful walk along the Charles River, exploring the flavors of Chinatown, and even making the one-hour trip to Rockport, a coastal gem that’s perfect for a day trip.
If you’re planning a trip to Boston this summer, this guide will give you all the must-see spots, from historic landmarks to scenic views, and from iconic attractions to hidden gems. Whether it’s your first time or your tenth, Boston has something new to discover every time you visit.
