  1. Seattle local here, just an fyi…that is NOT the Original Starbucks. It is the 2nd* however but fair warning…its entirely set up for the tourists. Had a guide confess to me once…its only there for the tourists. The rest of Pike Place is worth seeing though, I go a couple times a year. Great restaurants around there but don't be locked to downtown, as the video suggests, for Food. Awesome restaurants everywhere.

*the og was blocks away & its location was sold a good few years after they got access to Pike Place.

  2. This is cool and all but don’t go to capital hill I don’t now where he went but if you want to get mugged or get punched by a person on drugs this is a great place to go but if you are going go to volunteer park a little north probity the best park in Seattle as a local

  3. Born and raised in Seattle, and the best view is on Harbor Ave right before you hit Alki Beach. West Seattle also has Lincoln Park with a ferry dock next to it that can take you to Vashon Island.

  4. Agree with other locals about Pike Place; many locals shop there. You made a good point at the end about all the other great non-Seattle stuff to explore. You could use Seattle as your home base I guess and visit the San Juans, the peninsula, the Cascades, etc… WA state is pretty awesome, and Eastern WA has some amazing and interesting places too!

  5. If you visit Seattle again, come to our town of Issaquah about 18 miles east on I-90. We are known as the gateway to the Issaquah Alps with lots of outdoor activities including hiking, water sports in our local lake and hang gliding off Poo Poo Point. There is even a free bus from Seattle to our hiking trails.

  6. You definitely need to budget more time in the Seattle area. I've lived near Seattle my entire life (40 years) and the outdoor activities within an hour of Seattle is Washington's greatest features. The hikes, lakes, mountains, mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, etc are all top tier. You would be hard pressed to find a better area in the entire world that offers you so much variety.

I often laugh at all the hate Seattle and the surrounding areas get, but if it helps temper the population growth, so be it.

  7. I live in Pioneer Square and honestly sometimes I go down to Pike Place just for the vibe. You are right though I basically never buy anything there including their $3.75 cokes

  8. For people who won't have a car I recommend staying near a light rail station such as downtown, Capitol Hill, U District, Roosevelt or Northgate. The sytem is underground there so very quick point A to B transit. Also solves the hilly city problem since the train is climbing the hills for you.

  9. Thanks for doing a video on Seattle! As a jaded native and lifelong resident it was fun to watch! I love living here but think of it as very meh for tourists. But if you're here anyway you mentioned some great places! I'll add my voice to the choir saying I go to Pike Place all the time for some of the best specialty shops and restaurants. But you're right, avoid the first Starbucks and some other overrated places. Go around 10 on a weekday (not peak summer) and it's pleasantly devoid of tourists. So many yummy treats to enjoy while taking in the views. Good thing for all those hills to walk afterward 🙂 Great tip about the Mariner's game but I agree with others that Kerry Park is the view. Love the locks! But find Golden Gardens SO crowded! Not with tourists but still a lot of people. Try the beach at Discovery park! Has an amazing view of Rainier. IMO the best part of Seattle is the surrounding nature – Mt. Rainier, skiing, San Juans, even Snoqualmie falls.

  10. cool video. As someone who's been here since Ballard was an old fishing village, you did a great job. However – gotta correct you on Pike Place Market… I go there all the time. I just go early. Some of the best filipino food in the city is at Oriental Mart (salmon singagong (sorry my spelling))
You're really missing out if you don't go there. That's just one spot. Also if you like Golden Gardens, next time you come to town you really need to check out West Seattle and check out Lincoln Park. Best Thai is in WS (Buddha Ruksa) and best fish and chips (Marination Ma Kai). AND best Italian, and tons of great Japanese restaurants. Plus there are sand beaches on Alki. It's the last "secret neighborhood….. Guess it's good you missed it. Because I had to move out of Fremont bc I couldn't afford it any more. West Seattle is also 10 minutes to downtown. So try it next time.

  11. I thought they closed the First Starbucks, locals visit the market (Filipino Stand), flowers, fresh fish, and vegetables. I lived downtown, 25 years ago, now business closed or left because of crime. Cheesecake Factory, Many Starbucks locations, restaurants, and stores. 3rd and fourth between Pike and Pine… avoid it if possible.

A Trans Girl was punched in the face around Broadway for no reason by guys on bikes. Good thing you didn’t mention the U District, two shootings during daylight close to the Ave. Homeless in the Pioneer Square area, shootings and stabbing in China Town, happening more frequently than Chinese Take-Out.

Seattle isn’t worth the time visiting. Go to the Mountains… just stay home, like the locals do.
