I couldn't agree more going to the 9/11 Museum.
I would also recommend The New York Historical Society on the Upper West Side. Especially if it is a rainy day.
I in NY
Summit One. Just went a month ago… all I can say is get your mind prepared to WAIT! I think I wasn’t mentally prepped to endure the long slow moving lines. The experience was amazing, but I grew so frustrated with the staff and the chaotic long lines I almost left. Glad didn’t cause it was super cool.
Your NYC trip was full and exciting. Food 😋
that is where I am from niggas
On the Intrepid Museum, the space shuttle at the museum isn't a replica, it is one of the original space craft!
Imagine travelling all the way to New York City just to visit a Madame Tussauds
Heck, I'd even take Brighton beach over Coney. There is a swell eatery right on the Boardwalk, Tom's Coney Island. Good eats and a pleasant ocean view. Also a minor league ball club you didn't mention (Cyclones) just a few blocks from Nathans. Wouldn't have hurt to mention seeing one of the longest suspension bridges in the USA, The Verrazzano Narrows Bridge with a nice Park (John Paul Jones Park) almost under it. Boss views of the Narrows, S. I. and a nice spot in Bay Ridge. The MET's nice but I've only been there twice. Once in 1970 to see The Who do their "rock opera" Tommy and in 1984 to see The Nutcracker with Mikhail Baryshnikov.
Cool video. Didn't know there is a lot to do up there in different cities. Madame thousand is expensive anywhere u go. Be safe, alita
Cons of visiting One World: you won't see the One World ITSELF!!!
So, $28 is a good price for a museum, but $30 is too high? Both seem like good values.
Took our sone to American Museum Natl. History because of Night at the Museum, he wanted to see the "little men" just like in the movie. Sure enough, little men in the dioramas, happy kid. You forgot to mention you can pose with a bronze statue on T.R. on the lower level.
Last time we went out hotel was down in Chelsea, so we hit the Little Island and then went and walked up the Highline to Hudson Yards and went up to the Edge. Early spring day and the weather was great so this was a good time for us. No, not much to "do" on the island but to us it was unique, the Highline was a nice walk. Yes, a crowd on the Edge, but we still got some memorable pictures- 25th wedding anniversary trip.
How about St Patrick's Cathedral
As soon as we walked out of the subway into timesquare a guy tried to sell us drugs … not to mention the RANCID smells. Soooo crowded that my anxiety was through the roof.
What about The met Cloisters
Are there hotels in Coney Island? Can one stay there for a few days? Or isnit only an attraction park for day trips?
My list (From which you can deduce my interests):
The Cloisters – pros, art and medieval history, outdoor gardens with herbs and various European plants. It is run by the Met, so I don't know if you do the Met and it on the same day, if there's any discount. Cons, way up in the northern end of Manhattan. Also, although much of the museum is indoors, the gardens are best appreciated with the proper weather.
The Met – pros: so much from so many cultures! Cons: if you are interested in Everything, you'll never get through it all in a day. Note, last time I was there, admission for everyone was via donation.
Museum of Natural History. Pros: great for children and adults. So much is here, too! Cons: can be crowded, especially on weekends and when school is out – although some schools also have field trips there during the school year.
Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. Pros – the annual orchid exhibit in the spring is incredible. This exhibit is indoors. I haven't been there for other exhibts, but I understand the rose gardens are spectacular. Cons: for the orchids, get there when the place opens; otherwise it's a crush of humanity.
Broadway or Off-Broadway shows. For me, will depend on what I really want to see. Cons might be that some extremely popular shows are oft sold out. I'm not the type to see a show just to sée a show.
What I haven't seen that i want to visit – the museum at the 9/11 site. I've been at the outdoor memorial, but just not inside.
You omitted the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA.) A terrific place full of pieces everyone will recognize. You also left out rowing in Central Park. Very cheap and wonderful. I would definitely add Central Park and the carousel.
What about the MoMA and the MET?
Is the MET or the American Museum of Natural History better?
One small correction: at the Intrepid Museum, it's not a replica of the Enterprise space shuttle, it's the real thing.
Went to Madame Tussaud in London as a graduation present from my mom and nana, wasn't impressed.
Top of the rock was definitely our favourite observation deck, loved it.
Another great video, thank you 🙏🏻
I see videos of the War Remnants Museum in Vietnam and you still see Americans defending their brutality. The thing you put in #1 is not a way to remember the innocent people who died, it is imperialist war propaganda and you put it in a tourism video.
haut kwaH (read backwards)
I visited NYC with my adult sons in September 2022 and made the journey down to Coney Island purely due to the fact I love the Warriors movie. I couldn't not go. It was dusk when we got there so it was all lit up and it was still light enough to walk on the beach and look out over the water. I'm glad I made the effort.
47 Observation Decks is kinda wild for what was left off the list. Some more diversification might be a good idea here
Ahh the fake monk scam 😅 I was turning 18 and leaving NYC when the fake monks started popping up everywhere. I cannot believe they are still around
One goes to Rockefeller Center to see among the best Art Deco.
5:48 a guy falls down while ice skating
I went to the 9/11 museum a couple of years back. I didn't think it was that great. It was like they'd decided to build a vast museum, but then didn't have enough exhibits to fill it. I certainly wouldn't put it as my #1. But then I'm not American – maybe if you are American, just being there is good enough to make it #1.
I think its BS that they charge people for the 9/11 museum. Maybe if 100% of those proceeds go to heliping victims and other matters, but you know someone is making money off that. The audacity to charge people and profit off the death of many hundreds of people is disgusting. Maybe someone has input to help sway my opinion however.
Besides the two theatres I attended, Madison Square Garden was by far the best.
I live in Calif and have been to NY a couple of times. We’ve been to a few of your mentions, we went to Ellis Isle and found my husbands grandparents names on both sides listed.
Pros there is nothing to see in New-York
For reference, the Intrepid houses the actual Enterprise space shuttle. There are no replicas
Just WALK AROUND.Nothing beats it,things creep up on you like I happened to just look up when in Manhattan and there was the Empire state looking at me.
Can i ask anyone who knows these things if it's possible to visit an FDNY firehouse ? Just to take a few pics of the trucks and buy a T shirt.
3:18 dont give away the secret of pier 11 lol! its crowded enough as is with commuters 😂
You seen the tree now leave
Coney Island should be a little higher if you are baseball fan( Brooklyn Cyclones)
Acutely Dublin fenick park is bigger than central park
As a kid growing up in NYC, we went on field trips to several of these places. The museum of Natural History was a favorite! Also we went to Coney Island several times a year- especially 4th of July for the hot dog eating contest!
I’m from NYC but currently live in Fl. I love visiting as a tourist. I cried at the 9/11 Memorial. I was so emotional- I couldn’t talk. I was on a group tour with mixed company so you had people from other countries, states and even those who weren’t born yet when it happened. I can understand that lots of people aren’t emotionally connected to it but I found it so disrespectful to see people laughing and smiling while vlogging or taking selfies. It’s a place of observance and reflection.
Great video! Thanks for saying “no smiling selfies.” I totally agree with you, when I went there and saw people doing it I thought it was so disrespectful. Also, the lines for ferries to Statue and Ellis have been ridiculously long after 11:30. I always do the early morning tours before everyone wakes up and the lines get long and crowded, thus leaving more time seeing and less time waiting.
hey what about the location for hotels to stay, which can cover all these touring spots. I was stuck on where to stay.
It must have been absolutely awful having to test all twenty of these to make this list.
