New sub here. Love your channel. We actually found a hotel in Herndon which is only a short walk to Herndon Metro station or at least that’s what we were told!
My comment deleted?
Super valuable. Thank you!
I stayed at Sheraton Pentagon Hotel. They had a shuttle that went to the Pentagon City Metro Station, the Airport and back to the Hotel, so that definitely saved some time…
I stayed in Arlington. The hotel which is the Clearion now was the Quality Inn. The staff was courteous and kind. They always Treated me like I was VIP. It is located at 1200 N Courthouse rd just 6 blocks south of the Metro.
Hey rob! If we're taking a train or bus out of DC, does it make more sense to stay near union station or still somewhere closer to downtown around Chinatown? Looking at both the phoenix place hotel and Henley park
Hilton Club the District. Still here until tomorrow then back to Ireland. Fantastic room with separate bedroom and lots of facilities, also free hot breakfast and complimentary drinks 2 per person every evening. Very close to Foggy Bottom metro and less than a mile to the White House.
I'll be staying Omni Shoreham Hotel D.C. for my first life-time trip to DC from LAX this October 5th thru 8th, 2023. Nothing known about DC areas. I know very little about the hotel but it looks nice in the website.
Hi Rob. Great video!!! I listened to your "Best Areas and Hotel" podcast too… also great! Planning a first-time trip for April for our family. I am leaning towards booking a hotel the wharf; it looks super. My second consideration is Downtown, but it seems to have dropped a bit in your rankings in 2022 due to the Pandemic fallout. I'm wondering if things have changed in 2023. How is downtown recovering? Is it back to the top of your recommendations?
Hi Rob, I (family of 4) am planning to visit DC in Novemebr. Which part of DC has more eating options? Above Constituitinal Ave or below Independence Ave? I am looking to stay within walking distance to a DC Circulator stop.
We are going to stay at the Embassy Suites Convention Center. Any comments?
Stayed at the St Gregory downtown. It was great!
Is the yellow line up and running again? Which location would you choose between crystal city and court house metro stops? Is the Hilton Garden Inn Arlington/Courthouse Plaza a nice place to stay. First trip to WA. Thank you
How about the Quincy?
I have stayed in Washington DC a few times and my preference is to stay close to union station since I like taking Amtrak in to the city. I'd prefer something within walking distance of the train station. I also prefer hotels with a restaurant. A real, full service, sit down restaurant with full bar. I don't care about breakfast bars. I want a decent restaurant that is right in the hotel. That will always be my top pick and requirement.
I’m visiting for the first time. I’m looking to stay in Crystal city. Can I just Uber to downtown or is the metro working again? What’s the easiest transportation?
I'm surprised you didn't mention staying in Alexandria. Its clean and close.
Impressive video…your views of Metro are excellent. Showing the train interiors and moving cars…some people get antsy….this? Hey, cool.
There are escalators, elevators and lighted overhead signs that show time of incoming train.
Well done ….thanks.
I stayed at Hilton Washington DC National Mall-The Wharf back in August 2019. It was a nice hotel for me…
We are going in Oct and staying in the Crystal City Marriott. What can you tell me about the hotel and the area
Good morning. My wife and I have enjoy visiting Washington DC. We normally stay at the Holiday Inn Capitol Mall hotel or the Holiday Inn in Crystal City.
On our next visit in March 2023, we are planning to visit Georgetown University and the African American new exhibit. We have a few questions about hotels, shuttles or uber cost. We will only be there for the weekend. What would you recommend?
We did a split stay in Arlington and Alexandria. I’d do Arlington again for sure. We just left our car at the hotel and ubered into the city for maybe $9 each way?
How about Hostels? I was looking at those for an upcoming trip because they are cheap.
If you're coming to the city as a tourist rather than on business, I think Rosslyn makes a lot of sense. Close to Arlington National Cemetary, a quick ride over to Georgetown, and Metro-accessible to anywhere downtown. They also have very good food options now, unles a lot of areas downtown which can be food deserts if you don't pick right.
Planning a trip to visit Ina few weekends but the parking rates for these hotels is so expensive. I thought about staying at the Wyatt Hotel but idk. We are driving so I will have to park the car and pay no matter where I stay
Biking into DC via the C&O Towpath (bikepacking) so I need a hotel that has 24 hr guest laundry. And yes, reasonably priced/not too glitzy. Not doing this trip until July 2023 but planning now. So far the Holiday Inn Central on Rhode Island NW is what I’m eyeing.
Is it convenient to come into DC from Alexandria?
We are coming in a couple of weeks and are staying at embassy suites in Alexandria across the street from the Old King Station. Can’t wait. Looks like the warf is close to there, right?
My parents are visiting this summer and if they were to stay, they couldn't do a 20 minute walk. Especially with the heat. Any recommendations for seniors? I'll check out the podcast, but wondering what would be the ideal location that's more accessible to the mall.
I've stayed in a few different areas on business trips to DC. For some reason I like Foggy Bottom so this is where I will be for a week later this summer.
I will visit Washington DC this November, Thanksgiving week. Is it practical to stay in Canopy by Hilton at Rhode Island Ave? Is the area safe?
Stayed at the Wharf in October. It was great. Easy access to the water taxi and thanks for the tip for the free shuttle as I used it everyday…👍🏾
Staying mid July, picked downtown at the jw marriott.
Love College Park Marriott – but have not been there since 2020. I hear the Metro has cut back their schedule. So not convenient to stay outside of the city
This is the first time visiting Washington DC. The 4 of us are staying at AKA White House in late August for 4 nights . It’s close to the real White House . The hotel is like an apartment.
I’m wondering if anyone stay there before?
We are coming end of June and staying at Sonder Georgetown…is it a good area? Walkable to Tha Mall area?
I stayed at The Henley Park in January and just loved the location and the hotel 💜
