If you’re planning a trip specifically to see San Francisco, I would recommend spending 3 days at least.
Some things like Alcatraz take a minimum half day, while there are so many museums to explore outside of all the unique sites you won’t find in any other city.
I felt the city was much cleaner than LA and way more unique. It feels pretty safe, especially in tourist heavy areas, but definitely take caution when driving your own car.
On the North side of the Bridge there are multiple hreat pull offs in the Marin Headlands to see downtown and and elevated view of the bridge.
