There is a monument to Mary Jemison at Letchworth State Park. Her story began just outside of Gettysburg before there even was such a place.

Whiteface also held the 1932 Olympics
I lived in the Adirondacks and the two most impressive sights I saw were (1) view seen on top of Whiteface Mtn (2) The Hudson River near North Creek in the spring. Water coming off cliffs into the raging river.
I've seen several videos documenting the most beautiful states in America, and I've rarely seen New York state on that list. But c'mon! New York state is extremely underrated in its beauty. I've seen Michigan on that list, but not this state? For starters, there isn't any other state that touches both the ocean and the Great Lakes.
Born in the Finger Lakes, currently reside in Rochester…I’ll never leave Upstate New York!!!❤️
I’ve only been to Lake George.
(Well and NYs inner city)
Lake George is just stunning!
Especially kayaking in the early mornings!
Build condos and make a fortune!
Get the gas pipeline started!
Natural gas! Let’s get drilling now!!
Excellent 👌 what we were looking for ❤
Letchworth state park
What an amazing list.
As a native NYER from the city. I really enjoyed this video. I’ve been to whiteface mountain and the Adirondack Park. I honestly haven’t heard of the other places but plan to see as many as possible.
Don't let them fool you
And that state land the state stole. If they need to make mo ey off of it they will. And are
Grew up in the ole Southern Tier. Binghamton, NY area. In high school, we always drive up to Six Mile Creek in Ithaca, NY and go cliff jumping.
Miss those days!!
I grew up in Central NY. I live in CO but I still love coming back w my teen to visit family. I have bragging rights for our beautiful parks, wineries and lakes!
Hammondsport.
Beautiful
One correction: Buttermilk Falls State Park, like all New York State Parks, does have an entry fee.
The Gunks deserves a spot (Minnewaska State Patk, Mohonk Preserve, etc.)

Lethworth bought the property to farm in the 1800s, He was from a big family and ended up taking care of his sister. His sister had a compainion who would keep her company when her brother went off with his horse and buggy to buy supplies for his farm at stores in Castile NY which is one side of Letchworth Park. He donated his farm for a park when he was elderly. No marriage, no children. His sister wrote a letter about living there, about how when her brother was away, people would just walk onto their property and have a picnic. How it was presumptuous for them to just trespass. I have been unable to find the letter she wrote that was on-line. You go way back intime if you go to the restaurant. Also there is a regular frieght train that goes right over the gorge and the river if you happen to be there at the right time. I'm in my eighties and was born on the Atantic ocean part of New York State and plan to end up in the Ithaca part of New York. This is where in the US you find everything. And now I need to mow when the grass gets drier this morning.
Its still funny that they still say the finger lakes and all the waterfalls running into them were caused by the glaciers. They were formed from the glaciers being melted almost instantly cutting deep channels with fluid water not ice. Watkins glenn state park is a perfect example with all of its deep pot holes in the bedrock from extreme water flow.
We moved to Oswego, NY (north of Syracuse, right on Lake Ontario) from Connecticut 24 yrs ago and we absolutely love it here.
Kaaterskill Falls is now a complete shit show. NYS needs to do something about the crowd level. It's become a total tourist trap. Get there at 7am and out by 9am.
How about Chittenango Fall State Park Near Syracuse NY?
You missed bear mountain
I live a five minute walk from the Erie Canal. I've boated on it, fished in it, walked along it, and own property that borders it. I've lived in Upstate NY all my life. All of the places they mention are nice. I've been to a few. I'd like to address the gushing descriptions of Letchworth. This is a park I've visited multiple times from childhood to adulthood. It's really very pretty. The trails are great to walk or hike, and picnicking or just chilling is always a fun thing to do at Letchworth. The gorge is nice, the waterfalls are nice, the trestle, I think I may have been on as a kid. But, to compare it to the Grand Canyon, to even mention the two in the same sentence is a gross miscarriage of justice. For one, anyone believing they will see something comparable to the Grand Canyon is in for a big letdown. For another thing, it's insulting to the Grand Canyon, which I've been to 3 times. There is no positive comparison between the two except they both have rivers at the bottom. Other than that, Letchworth cannot compete in beauty, size, or dramatic vistas. It just can't. It's a nice little park with a nice little gorge and nice little waterfalls. It's genuinely a pretty place to spend time. But, it's not in the same league or category as the Grand Canyon and to keep saying it's the "Grand Canyon of the East" is totally absurd when you've been to both.
Imagine!! Seeing Canada from NY state. Whoda thunk. You obviously have never been to Buffalo or Niagara Falls
I dropped acid with a group of fellow SUNY@ Buffalo students at Letchworth State Park in 1970. Incredibly beautiful and trippy day. Great experience!!
That's right, New York is not New York City. But don't tell them that.

I’ve been to Watkins Glen, I was wondering if that was gonna be on here. It was great, you could walk along the gorge, it’s amazing.❤
