Our Gear:
We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.

We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.

We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

  1. You missed a big one: Don’t come to San Diego in May or June if you want sunshine. Those are two cloudy and cool months about 9 years out of 10. People from anywhere else always assume June in San Diego must be beautiful, but there’s a reason we call it “June gloom.”

  2. The trolley is for both Locals and tourists. Ignore the guy in the comments saying it’s for locals only. It’s like if I said “don’t take the hiking trails in Lee vining. It’s for locals only…”

  3. Thanks for the great review of my home city! If I could just add a couple things…

For food and beer, there's also a lot going on in the North Park/ Normal Heights area where I live. It's not touristy and it's a little cheaper than the Gaslamp. Most of the people you see out and about there live in the area. It's not a beautiful area like La Jolla or Mission Hills, but it is where a lot of locals go for fun at night.

If you like farmers markets, the one in Little Italy is going to blow you away. It's a lot more than just a farmers market. There are shops, restaurants, and other attractions. Also most of it is closed to vehicle traffic which makes it very walkable.

If you rent a car, take a couple joyrides through some of San Diego's nicer neighborhoods like the area of Mission Hills just above Presidio Park near old town. Also, just across the highway from Presidio Park is the amazingly beautiful University of San Diego campus. It's special and worth seeing if you can get permission to drive through it.

  4. There is traffic in San Diego – but I visited San Diego from Boston. I think that's about all I need to say about that. 😉 California traffic is rough, but it kind of makes sense, given how spread out everything is. But try having traffic that bad, yet it's in a city that could probably fit inside one neighborhood of Los Angeles. Boston traffic is both awful and so infuriating that there's a good reason for our unfortunate nickname. 🙂
