  1. One of the best cheap dates is to take the Blue and Gold commuter ferry right past the Golden Gate bridge to Sausalito and explore the former artist community there. Walk up Hyde street or ride the cable car and stop at Lombard street which is the second most twisty street in San Francisco. Don't forget Umbrella alley across Jefferson street from In N Out Burger. The ferris wheel (Sky Star Wheel) on Jefferson and The Embarcadero. Catch one of the vintage street cars to the ferry building where inside you will find restaurants, food stores, book stores.

  2. I've lived in San Francisco for 30+ years and I haven't been down to explore the wharf but maybe once or twice in all that time. Overdue for a visit.

  3. When I take people to the wharf, I always show them The Fishermen's and Seamen's Memorial Chapel. It's kinda out of the way and a lot less "touristy" than what much of the wharf has evolved into.
