Jay walking may be safer than crossing with the light at you guys don't have a law that says if the walk light is on you cannot take a right on red, that's nuts.
I wish there was more info on getting back from Manhattan to jfk. The hotel cabs seem to be double the price of the yellow cabs coming In and I’m not sure what alternatives there are 🤷♀️
Do NOT buy a dollar (or $1.50) just to say you did it!!! New York has some of the best pizza in the world and isn't taste what it's all about? I'd pick that over bragging rights anyday. Plus, even good slices are not that expensive for a meal compared to other foods in New York.

Jaywalking is no longer illegal in NYC.
Your the second person to say 20% tip. The rest of NY state it's customary 15%. Definitely pay attention to for the gratuity thing. Living in the northern part of the state I have never seen it already on the bill. I went to Sleepy Hallow last year and they had a 20% one already on the bill. Sadly it was mediocre food and we had terrible service.

Yeah my first time in NY was 2014 i was 17 and i didnt know i wasnt suppose to stop in the middle of the sideway some dude start yellin open the god damn road you in my way he past us then returned and politely asked for 1$ for beers and in the shocked state i pulled my wallet and gave it to him wtihout question then we were like what the hell just happened 🤣 and my advice dont go to the mcdonalds across the empire state building its very very bad

Newark Penn Station vs. New York Penn Station (what geniuses named them?) is so annoying! It's not the worst thing in the world if you get off at Newark by mistake, though. Just wait there at the same platform (it may be crowded) for the next train to New York – it usually doesn't take longer than a half an hour.
I think you can also use Omny when using the Air Train.
