You are supposed to get the Italian beef sandwich dipped in the juice or broth , it's kinda wet. It's really good that way. I'm so sorry you didn't have it that way, you don't know what you missed. I'm born and raised in Chicago, but I have been living in Long Beach, California, for over 20 years

A dipped sandwich is one that has been dipped in the au jus that the beef was cooked in. It’s sort of a kinda flavorful beef broth . The bread soaks up the au jus. The nacho cheese cup is optional for the sandwich but getting it dipped is a must.
